Hello!
No standard “Sunday Sundries” post today because it’s my birthday! I turn 38 today. And as I’m the birthday princess and this is my newsletter, I can do whatever I want. And today I want to share 3 goals I have for this twirl around the sun.
Share praise directly when I enjoy other people’s work.
Over the past month, I’ve noticed that I’ve become a fairly passive consumer of content. Social media feels like an endless scroll to nowhere. My looming TBR is something that needs to be “gotten through.” I’m a sword-wielding warrior in constant battle with my inbox.
That makes it sound like I don’t enjoy this content. But, by and large, I do.
I regularly read essays in newsletters that gobsmack me; books that leave me rabid with jealousy and running for a highlighter so I can decorate a particularly beautiful passage. There are other books that have me kicking my feet in giddy glee, shipping fake people with a stomach full of butterflies on a random Tuesday. What a gift! I screenshot outfits in my Instagram feed, save recipes, text funny TikToks to my group chat.
But what I don’t often do is stop to tell the creator how much their work has affected me. Maybe I tap the heart button. A cheap form of praise.
