I cannot wait to see PHM come to life but honestly I have to say I’m disappointed in the Ryan Gosling casting. Ryland didn’t strike me as Ken-esque whatsoever. More nerdy and regular pls!!

I’m watching Queenie now and loving it! I adored the book, too. Thanks for all the reading list inspiration!

I enjoyed this so much I had to comment immediately! Just bought The Paris Novel which looks right up my street and I'm surprised I've never heard of it! I didn't know there was a Lucy Foley adaptation but I raced through that book so I'm so excited they're making one, and as a longtime Lisa stan I am honestly incredulous it's taken them this long to adapt any of her stuff! Liked Queenie, it took a while to get going but enjoyed the drama aspect of it.

I am so excited for Lisa Jewell's book and have pre-ordered it but have many of the same questions as you do. At the end of the day, I will read anything she writes but I'm so curious! I guess we will find out soon as it comes out tomorrow.

TV: I started Queenie but it didn't really grab me. I am extremely excited about JAMES and of course HAPPY PLACE! Also, did you see this Harry Potter news? I am thrilled: https://www.vulture.com/article/harry-potter-tv-series.html

Yes I need your Lisa Jewell updates ASAP as you’ll prob get there before me with this reading rut. And no! I didn’t see the HP news!

I watched Queenie and really liked it. Also, Black Cake. There are a few adaptations on Hulu of black authors’ books and I wish they got more attention!

Yes that one also flew so under the radar!! You’re so right

I always get nervous when I hear about movie adaptations of books I have loved. Sometimes it works and I’m able to keep them separate from each other, but other times I feel very attached to my own imagination and I don’t want to watch anyone else’s. 🙃 I think I can feel excited about My Oxford Year (I just reread it and it’s such a sweet book!), but I’ll stay away from Project Hail Mary because I LOVED that book so much and I’m not ready to watch it on a screen.

I'm honestly so curious to see how they portray Rocky, I will not be able to stay away. Plus, even though I loved it, it's so outside my usual genre that I'm deeply curious about how it gets adapted. (vs. with romance, I've been burned before)

Ruth Reichl can simply do no wrong! Have you read her novel, Delicious! ? I picked it up off of an Airbnb host's bookshelf last summer and devoured it. Even having read numerous Ruth books I hadn't heard of this one and am so happy I came across it!

I loved it! We also have a book club podcast episode about it from way back!

Loved this newsletter — I’m learning to embrace my book ruts as well; c’est la vie! I watched Queenie and loved it, and I’m also surprised I haven’t seen more people talking about it! Be prepared to suffer through the character making lots of bad choices of course, but the euphoria you have at the end as she grows makes it worth it 😂

OK so all the Queenie fans are on Substack not IG. Noted! This is giving me the necessary boost to try it!

I read an early copy of The Wedding People and absolutely adored it. One of my favorite books I’ve read this year!
