This was one of my favorite posts of yours and made me feel inspired to do a similar one of my own! I loved getting to hear about your day + random facts.
Also, a neighbor was carrying up groceries the other day and randomly handed me a Yasso bar. I’m hooked!
Loved this! I love nothing more than reading about the minutiae of someones day, especially someone who also works from home. And in my favourite city no less! (very different city to me here in Scotland) Thanks! x
This was fun to read! I love hearing about how other's spend their days, especially writers. I also love hearing about life in NYC, I've only been there once but hope to return someday soon. I also love books and reading, we definitely have that in common
Thank you for re-introducing yourself! I got here by way of Sarah Jacobson and am so happy to be here. I’m working on a new fiction project (unpublished to date though) and “friend-mance” is actually a perfect term for what I’m trying to capture in the two main characters. So you’ve got at least one new fan there. ;) I’m also Team Owala all the way.
On writing, I find it so much easier to get into a flow when I’m doing anything OTHER than fiction writing. I think it’s because with anything else, you have so much to grab at. With fiction, you have to make it ALL up, grain by grain of sand. But you’re doing it and I’m excited to check out your first book and keep following along :)
I want to read other people's! Like, tell me the most boring part of your day. Tell me the struggle that's too small to complain about but takes up outsize brain space. Tell me what you had for lunch!
I love the term friend-mance! I think that + whatever blurry line exists between books that aren't quite romance and aren't quite Women's Fiction but COULD go in either direction needs a genre and to be accepted STAT. We should petition both these things!
Also thank you for reminding me about Margo's Got Money Troubles, I keep meaning to add that one to my TBR list! Also looking forward to listening to the podcast!
Yes! I always lament that there are so few books that center friendship, which as a single woman with a very small biological family, have been the most important and enduring relationships in my life! And yes!!! Please read Margo, it is so so so good.
am i the friend at 10:54 am? FLATTERED! (if I'm not don't tell me.)
i liked this so much that 1.) want to copy it 2.) would love for you to do more when you have meetings and stuff or a different style of day. i would subscribe to this weekly!
I mean... I wasn't going to out you. But if you're going to out you...
Also, please copy. More silly newsletters! More glimpses into other people's mundanity. I'm here for it. And I was thinking along a similar vein, it would be really fun to repeat this in the thick of a book launch, or a different phase of the book process because it does feel really cyclical. This is def the most boring/insular phase.
i kinda like the "boring"-- it's nice to peek into other people's portfolio career/wfh lives a bit! but agreed, a book tour would be fun, a la grubstreet diet.
but also this feels like leaning into that whole patreon idea-- like if you're here to get to know me, LFG! i love more stuff in that vein!!
Love that idea — glimpses into what it really takes is the best. I just found a publisher and need to write 17 chapters of the fashion essay collection I’ve been dreaming about publishing for decades. But building the platform, editorial writing, contributing to an anthology and - oh yeah - being a wife and mother to twin teen boys needs to fit in the 24 hours. Thank goodness for substack, sleep and skincare.
Oh god, what was I doing before this with a Stanley. The Owala is so obviously the better choice. And so glad you enjoyed the read! It was fun to put together, too.
Hi with a very belated comment! I’ve been thinking about doing my own DITL and I’m curious about the process. How do you track everything so that you know what time you did things? Do you jot notes down throughout the day? Any other tips for a good DITL?
Wow, I now need everyone I know to post their DITL breakdown. Loved this!!
Your move! I love day in the lifes.
Same! Also, “woman about the internet” is the best descriptor ever
I lol'ed. I can't disagree.
Becca!! I'm honored to see One-Star Romance in such amazing company (and also loved this DITL - popsicles are a VERY important part of the work day).
Bribery: the true secret to writing and (I imagine) toddler-rearing.

Please do! I love the mundanity of seeing someone else's "normal." Also, welcome to the cult of yasso. I hope it was mint chip.
This was a fun read! I love eating a popsicle on my way out the door if I’m warm from getting ready!
The on the go popsicle! You're in the advanced class.
This was satisfying to read!
Here for the 92 Moose shout out as a born and raised central-Mainer!!

Oh I'm so glad Sarah brought you here! Welcome!
This was such a fun way to get to know you!
I'm so glad. I had so much fun writing it.
Wow. I love this so much. I love a DITL and the minutia of it!

Oh this interaction is making my whole day! That's my book baby!
I am excited you switched to an Owala water bottle (the best!). Your DITL was very fun to read!

Yup, just jotted notes in my notes app through the day. There are no rules! However you want to do it is the right way.
