I'm a journalist, and I'm working on my first novel, which means I'm also deep in the world of craft books. Thank you for these recommendations! Unsolicited rec of my own: I recently finished "What About the Baby? Some Thoughts on the Art of Fiction" by Alice McDermott, and I found it really helpful.
I feel your thoughts on style changes HARD! I have always, always been a dress girl, for 32 years. Now I feel just 'eh' about them and am feel a bit lost. Going to try your t-shirt rec!
The company I used to work for was big on potlucks and the best one was the fall soup competition. It was about 60 people, who made at least a dozen soups, so we brought muffin tins to try a scoop of each. Others made various types of bread or muffins or dessert. It was heaven.
A near weekly staple in our house every fall is the Roasted Butternut Squash and Bacon soup from Damn Delicious! I find a lot of butternut squash recipes to lean too far on the sweet side, but this soup is firmly in the savory camp. Can’t recommend enough for anyone who eats meat!
Oh that's interesting. I agree with you on generally not loving butternut squash soup because they lean sweet (I also tend to like pureed soups less. I prefer something a little more stuff-y).
This taco soup is the best! https://iowagirleats.com/cheesy-taco-soup/

Oh I've never heard of that, will have to check it out.

I really appreciate the writing book recommendations!
Oh my goodness, thank you for these recipes. I LOVE soup but I was so burned out of my usual recipes. On a similar note, can anyone recommend a trusty soup cookbook? My favorite recipe of all time is the chicken curry hot pot from this book: https://www.amazon.com/Japanese-Hot-Pots-Comforting-One-Pot-ebook/dp/B004IK8PPK?dplnkId=cbbabc4f-7f23-4ac9-ac7e-fd300fa445d7&nodl=1
My favorite hearty soup is Lasagna Soup! https://urbanblisslife.com/easy-one-pot-lasagna-soup/
The recipe says dairy free, but I usually add a big scoop of ricotta on top. Delicious.
Lasagna soup! What a world!
I loved this post! A soup festival, THE BEST. I really like this sausage tortellini soup - https://thecozycook.com/sausage-tortellini-soup/
Oh YUM, this is very in my preferred flavor profile. But TORTELLINI! What a revelation.
This soup definitely leads a little more springtime but I find it delicious all year round (I usually up the chili flakes in winter for more of a kick). Thanks for all of the soup inspo! https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1024184-asparagus-spinach-and-leek-soup?smid=ck-recipe-iOS-share
I should have selected that I’m not a writer, but don’t mind process information!
And y’all need this towel from my little shop https://moodjanesville.com/products/2061-soup-tea-towel
I love Salt & Lavender’s chicken gnocchi soup, and brocc your body’s lemon chicken soup! Also Chrissy teigen’s tomato soup
Lemon chicken soup! That's something I've never made at home but sounds so good!
It’s so good and so easy! It’s on regular rotation in our house
The Everlane box cut tee is my absolute favourite wear-all-the-time uniform top!
I have truly been missing out.

I thought I never wanted a full-time job again, but this is making me reconsider. Soup as a benefit!!

Also a big soup fan! Apologies for the self promo but this recipe from my blog is one to try: https://www.fannetasticfood.com/slow-cooker-chicken-taco-soup/
Ooooh...this looks great!
So much goodness here! Thanks for the craft book recs and my entire personality is transitioning to soup now. https://www.mcsweeneys.net/articles/soups-are-my-only-personality-trait-until-christmas
If you need another chili for your repertoire, here's my veggie go-to (I'll use veggie stock if I'm making for vegetarians): https://www.sixsistersstuff.com/recipe/slow-cooker-quinoa-chili/?epik=dj0yJnU9WUtpRzRmXy1sX3U5NU1yLW1SNlF1dTNPWERUWUFXMFAmcD0wJm49SnRDWFNvb1I2QkNDNUFFNVh0QUpSUSZ0PUFBQUFBR2I2dEJ3

OK multiple different sausage and tortellini soup recipes in this comments section. Do we need to have a recipe showdown?
Absolutely 🏆
