I read that it’s so good for our brains to keep being beginners at things! Also, thanks for linking to the Go Fug Me girls, I love them and am so happy to find them here as it’s been awhile since I’ve read their stuff!
It makes me feel so excited to start to connect dots and use my brain in this way (meaning, learning anything... I've felt the same way this year learning French, too!)
Too Much is more autobiographical than you'd imagine - and the ex is based on Jack Antonoff. There's a lot of discourse on TikTok around Lena's dog Lamby (the millennials will remember). I thought it was good, not great, but definitely left me wondering what kind of weekend it was in the Antonoff-Qualley household
I love watercolor and used to have an Etsy shop where I did custom portraits and wedding invitations, even taught a few workshops— it’s so fun! I feel inspired to pick up the brush again, it’s such a relaxing art— watching the pigment and water and paper dance around on the page, delight!
Yeah, it feels naturally imperfect/organic, which I like. I think my ultimate goal would be to get good enough—very loose/relative—to make little cards for friends bdays, thank you notes, hostess gifts etc! That feels so personal and special!
Being a beginner and finding ways to be playful and creative as an adult is so incredible! I have been traveling over the last couple of weeks and with the encouragement of some amazing Substack friends I brought a travel journal. I was so intimidated at first but ended up loving the incentive to pay attention throughout my day! Have so much fun with your paint set!
Yes! I'm finding so much value in it. I've also been learning French this year, and seeing tangible improvement and connecting dots just tickles my brain in such a particular way that I don't get otherwise.

I was wondering if that was supposed to be Jack (though he was far more successful during their relationship than the ex seemed).

I’m also watercolor curious! So far I just mastered paint by number… 😂
I love watercolour painting. I only do it pretty occasionally but it feels really nice to do.
Bought all of the watercolour recs! Excited to being a beginner :)
Welcome to the beginner's club!
I took a beginner’s watercolor class last fall and she had us buy a pre-made pan set! It worked great. 😊
I haven't explored too much yet, but so far I'm liking it! No complaints!
Going back to work tomorrow after two weeks off so I have the Sundayist of Scaries. Thank you for always giving me a serotonin boost on Sunday!
